Hey, you're in the vehicle / car zone--YOUR HANDYMAN ZONE!

Cars / Trucks / Vans Category: Transmission System

Problem:

U-joint (universal joint) fails prematurely.

Tools / Materials (See Below for Applicability):

Solution:

If the universal joint (U-joint) of your vehicle--a double-cardan U-joint for four-wheel-drive vehicles (which means it has two to three grease fittings)--seems to have prematurely failed, in all likelihood, the cause is the failure to adequately lubricate all of its grease fittings.  Lubrication is essential for the longevity of the U-joint.  You should follow the vehicle manufacturer's instructions as to how often a U-joint should be lubricated to avoid the expense of having to replace one due to premature failure.

So, lube your U-joint to keep it running well, or it won't work at all.
