Problem:

Jerking happens when the engine is accelerated as the transmission is in first gear.

Solution:

With the transmission in first gear, if the vehicle experiences a jerking motion as the engine accelerates, the following may be probable causes of this vehicle problem that you should consider checking:

  • The clutch disk may have been contaminated with leaking oil or otherwise damaged;

  • The transmission input shaft may be worn out;

  • An engine mount may be loose or otherwise damaged;

  • The clutch pressure plate may be malfunctioning;

  • The clutch release bearing may be worn out; or

  • The fly wheel is in need of turning.

Any one of the above can be the cause of your vehicle's problem, so it would be best to pay attention to the above probable causes when attempting to diagnose and fix the problem.
