Cars / Trucks / Vans Category: Miscellaneous Informational Topics

Informational Topic:

Vehicle pulls away on its own from a straight driving lane, what could cause this?

The Information You Need:

If your vehicle tends to pull away on its own to the side or otherwise veer off a straight driving lane, the following may be probable causes of this vehicle problem that you should consider checking:

  • The tires may be under-inflated or over-inflated per the tire manufacturer's instructions;

  • The tires may not all be of the same type, one being bigger than the other or with different tread characteristics;

  • The wheels/tires may be out of alignment;

  • The front springs may be damaged and thus malfunctioning; or

  • The brakes, particularly the front ones, may be drawing back.

Any one of the above can be the cause of your vehicle's problem, so it would be best to pay attention to the above probable causes when attempting to diagnose and fix the problem.
