Hey, you're in the vehicle / car zone--YOUR HANDYMAN ZONE!

Cars / Trucks / Vans Category: Miscellaneous Informational Topics

Informational Topic:

Moldy, egg-rotten-like odor emitting from a vehicle that was previously flooded or otherwise soaked in water, how to remove the odor.

The Information You Need:

Moldy, egg-rotten-like odor in your vehicle as a result of a flood or soaking of water inside will probably be the hardest odor to be ever removed from your vehicle.  In a nutshell, it is not like any other odor; it cannot be camouflaged with a freshener or a similar type of a deodorizing product.

The moldy, egg-rotten-like odor is actually a by-product of bacteria growth found in the previously soaked interior of the vehicle, particularly the carpet.  The interior, as may be applicable, such as the carpet, must be washed with water and a carpet/interior soap disinfectant with a carpet extractor / vacuum wash machine.  This is the best way to attempt to remove the odor, short of ripping out and replacing the interior of the vehicle in its entirety.
