Hey, you're in the vehicle / car zone--YOUR HANDYMAN ZONE!

Cars / Trucks / Vans Category: Miscellaneous Informational Topics

Informational Topic:

Leaking / seeping water enters the vehicle, such as the passenger side, when it rains, what's causing this?

The Information You Need:

If, when it rains, you find rain water leaking into your vehicle, such as the passenger side, this may be caused by one of a variety of possible vehicle component failures.  Of them, the most probable cause is the windshield having a faulty sealing. If not the windshield, the leak may be stemming from the vehicle doors, engine firewall, or fenders.

A proven, though burdensome, way of ascertaining where exactly the leak is at is to use a garden hose to run water over each of the abovementioned probable failed components of your vehicle, one at a time for about 20 minutes, starting with the most likely problem-causer, the windshield, to see if water leaks then in such a controlled environment.

When you finally find out where the leak is at, most probably at the sealing of the windshield, your task of fixing the leak will only be halfway done, as you'll next need to actually seal the leak.
