Hey, you're in the vehicle / car zone--YOUR HANDYMAN ZONE!

Cars / Trucks / Vans Category: Locks

Informational Topic:

How to disable / deactivate automatic door locking of a vehicle with a keyless entry system.

The Information You Need:

If you find it necessary--as a matter of just pure preference or to avoid being locked out when you accidentally leave your keys inside the vehicle--you can disable/deactivate the part of the keyless entry system that automatically closes the vehicle doors while maintaining all other features of the system intact and operational.

To disable/deactivate, you'll need to terminate the switch that operates the automatic door locking of the vehicle, which, depending on the type of vehicle, is located right underneath the steering column or underneath the driver's seat.  Specifically, the connection terminal for the automatic door locking must be pulled off the module board and then the tip thereof should be, if possible, tied with a wire nut/wire connector, and electrical tape should be wrapped around the terminal connector, all so that it no longer can come into metal contact with the module board and inadvertently cause the automatic door locking mechanism to remain online and operational.

Done right, this will disable/deactivate the automatic door locking of the vehicle while keeping all other features of the keyless entry system functioning.
