Hey, you're in the vehicle / car zone--YOUR HANDYMAN ZONE!

Cars / Trucks / Vans Category: Air Conditioning System

Maintenance Issues:

How to prevent an easy waste of refrigerant through an easily preventable leak.

Tools / Materials (See Below for Applicability):

Guide:

Somewhat similar to central air conditioners of houses, a vehicle's air conditioner has service valves, one for the air conditioner's high-pressure line and the other for the low-pressure line, which are capped with screw-on caps.  Surprisingly, after these lines, and inherently these valves, are serviced as a matter of routine, unfortunately it is not uncommon for theses caps to be found to be not securely tightened to their respective valves, which contributes to the unnecessary loss of refrigerant, as such refrigerant escapes from the valves through such loosened caps.  It is why that when the valves are serviced--whether by you or your technician--that you make sure--double check--that the caps are tightened to the valves when the service job is completed.

So, it pays to double check the tightening of the valve caps.
