Hey, you're in the home improvement zone--YOUR HANDYMAN ZONE!

Windows and Components Category

Problem:

Cracked, but not yet totally broken, window.

Tools / Materials (See Below for Applicability):

  • Shellac, the clear resin kind

  • Nail polish

  • Brush

  • Rag/cloth

Solution:

At some point, you may encounter a cracked window.  A quick, temporary fix to this, short of replacing the window with another one, is to rub either nail polish or shellac on the crack with a brush or rag/cloth so as to seal/plug it.

Caution: When dealing with chemicals, such as what are found in nail polish or shellac, make sure you take precautions; read all product manufacturer instructions.

That's your quick fix.
