Hey, you're in the home improvement zone--YOUR HANDYMAN ZONE!

Doors and Components Category

Improvement Project:

How to make a door lock keyhole more visible at night for an easy key insert.

Tools / Materials (See Below for Applicability):

  • Luminous paint / Glow-in-the-dark paint

  • Fine-pointed brush (like what an artist uses)

Guide:

Oftentimes you may find it difficult to put your key in the keyhole of your door lock when it is very dark, or maybe you find that your elderly relative has an especially difficult time inserting their key in their door lock when otherwise others would be able to do so fairly easily.  In such instances, a relatively simple and inexpensive way to make a door lock more visible in the dark when unlocking it with a key, short of adding a light fixture, is to paint circular streaks of luminous / glow-in-the-dark paint around the keyhole of the door lock with a fine-pointed brush.
