The United States Department of Energy has an online publication about the basics of wind energy technology, including how such technology works, the advantages and disadvantages of such technology, the history of such technology, how such technology is used and being further developed, and how various entities--businesses and consumers--can use such technology themselves for their individual betterment and the ultimate betterment of the environment.

The American Wind Energy Association has devoted part of its site to providing information on the basics of wind turbine technology, the policies in place or sought to be in place to provide incentives to invest in such technology, environmental aspects of such technology, the benefits of such technology, and overall ways of how to go about investing in and using such technology to one's advantage.

Through the funding of the United States Department of Energy, a database entitled, Database of State Incentives for Renewables and Efficiency, has been established by the Interstate Renewable Energy Council and North Carolina Solar Center.  As the database title indicates, it conveniently provides a map directory of what each of the fifty states and various territories of the United States offers, in additional to the federal government, in terms of financial rebates and other incentives for a person's investment/purchase of an alternative energy system, such as wind turbines or solar panels.
