Hey, you're in the hobby / travel zone--YOUR HANDYMAN ZONE!

Fishing Category

Hobby / TRAVEL:

How to gut a fish.

Tools / Materials (See Below for Applicability):

  • Sharp knife

Guide:

In fishing, catching a fish is just part of the game; gutting it right is the other half of it.

Caution: When dealing with sharp objects, such as a sharp knife, make sure you take precautions.

Gutting a fish can be done in a few steps, and here's how:

  1. With a knife, make a sharp cut from the fish's anus area end to its gills.

  2. Having made the incision, use your fingers and, if need be, the knife to gut out the entrails of the fish.

  3. Remove any accumulated blood.

  4. Discard all of such biological material (entrails, blood) from the fish properly.

That's the "bare bones" of how to gut a fish.
