Hey, you're in the appliance zone--YOUR HANDYMAN ZONE!

Washer Category

Improvement Project:

How to minimize the vibrations and other annoying sounds of the washer.

Tools / Materials (See Below for Applicability):

  • Fire-retardant/non-flammable mat/rug

Guide:

 Introducing Sears Outlet

If you find that your washer machine is making significantly intolerable vibrations or other sounds, you may opt to try the following to reduce or otherwise eliminate such noises:  1) Place a fire-retardant/non-flammable mat or rug underneath the washer machine as a means of providing such a machine a soft material by which to absorb much of the washing-cycle movements; and 2) Simply rearrange your load of clothes in the washer machine so that one side of the load does not become more lopsided than the other in an effort to create a washing cycle that makes the load of clothes move inside in a stable way and not "out of whack."
